US riot police have arrested a number of protesters outside a football stadium following a demonstration against racial issues in the country.
Tensions remain high one week after a grand jury declined to indict white police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson in August.
Dozens of protesters gathered outside the Edward Jones Dome before the start of the game between the St. Louis Rams and the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
The protesters chanted, “Hands up, don't shoot!” “No Justice, No Football!” “This is what Democracy looks like,” and “We're here for Mike Brown.”
US Bishop Derrick Robinson, the leader of several peaceful protests against Michael Brown’s grand jury decision, was also arrested. He was later released.
Many US cities have been the scene of protests over the issue.
In solidarity with protesters across the country, five St. Louis Rams players stood with their arms raised before their game against Oakland.
Meanwhile, the parents of Michael Brown promised to press on with legal action.
"The family greatly wanted to have the killer of their unarmed son held accountable. They really would look at every legal avenue," the family’s lawyer, Benjamin Crump, told CBS on Sunday.
A civil wrongful death lawsuit against Wilson and pursuing a law that would require all officers to wear video body cameras are among the options.
Wilson resigned on Saturday after a grand jury decided not to indict him for the shooting.
The lawyer said the family was not satisfied with Wilson’s resignation.
